The Fruitland Small Animal and Poultry Swap in Fruitland, Missouri is one of the most established small animal and poultry swap meets in Southeast Missouri. If you’re a poultry enthusiast and you’ve never been to the Fruitland Small Animal and Poultry Swap, then you’re in for a pleasant surprise. At this event, you’ll find area vendors offering various fowl and small animals for sale and trade, including chickens, geese, turkey, ducks, quail, pheasants, doves, peafowl, guineas, rabbits, goats, and much more. Not only can you find a variety of fowl and small animals for sale at this event, but its also a great place to meet and converse with other local poultry hobbyists. If you’re looking to buy, be sure to bring a cage!
The Fruitland Small Animal and Poultry Swap is held in the parking lot of the Fruitland Livestock Auction on Highway 61 just north of Jackson, Missouri. For those unfamiliar with the area, Fruitland is small community located 15 miles northwest of Cape Giradeau, Missouri. For 2010, the Fruitland Swap will be held on March 13th and then the second Saturday of each month thereafter through October. The swap starts at 6am and usually begins to slow down around 11am, but the event ultimately lasts as long as buyers and vendors are available. Admission is free for those who come to look and buy, though vendors must pay a small $5.00 fee to sell at the event. Directions
From Cape Giradeau, take Highway 55 North for 6 miles, then exit at Highway 61 North (Exit 105), and continue on Highway 61 for 3 miles through Fruitland, Missouri. The Fruitland Livestock Auction Barn is located at 7505 Highway 61.
